The Problem

Tired of empty seats and risky recruiters?

!

Sitting trucks bleed money every single day they're not moving freight.

!

Other pay-per-driver services flood you with unqualified, no-show candidates you still have to chase.

!

You're forced into expensive monthly retainers before you've seen a single driver placed.

!

When a hire falls through, you eat the cost and start the whole search over.

Why Carriers Choose It

How pay-per-driver actually works

Pay-per-driver is the simplest way to fill a seat: there is no retainer, no setup invoice, and no monthly minimum. You tell us the lane, the pay, and the equipment, and you only owe a fee when a driver we sourced actually shows up and starts. If we never place anyone, you never pay a cent — the risk sits with us, not with your fuel budget.

The fee is split into retention-based installments. We agree on the fee and payment milestones before onboarding. If a driver leaves, you do not owe the remaining installments that depend on them staying. This keeps payment connected to retention, with clear terms from the start.

What "pre-screened" really means here

Every candidate is checked before they ever hit your inbox. We confirm CDL class and endorsements, verify recent experience and employment history, talk through home-time and pay expectations, and flag gaps before you spend a minute on the phone. You interview drivers who already match your seat — not a stack of unqualified applications you have to dig through yourself. If you want the deeper playbook on screening for drivers who actually last, our guide on why drivers quit and how to keep them breaks it down.

Who it fits best

Pay-per-driver is built for fleets that need specific seats filled now rather than a standing pipeline — owner-operators adding a second truck, small and mid-size carriers covering a handful of openings, and fleets testing a new lane. There's nothing to cancel and nothing to commit to: turn it on when a truck is sitting, pause it when you're full. Fleets that need several hires a week run the same model at volume — there is no retainer product and no weekly fee. Carriers near our Mundelein, IL headquarters or our Lancaster, TX office get the added benefit of a team that already recruits in their market every day.

For fleets hiring across Chicagoland, our Chicago CDL recruiting page explains local coverage and how to choose a recruiting arrangement. You can also read carrier feedback about working with CDL Agency.
